Es profesor de Literatura, comunicación y cultura en el Georgia Institute of Technology. Es autor de varios libros: Replications: A Robotic History of the Science Fiction Film y A Distant Technology: Science Fiction Film and the Machine Age. Es coeditor de la revista Post Script y miembro del equipo editorial de Literature/Film Quarterly y South Atlantic Review.
