Andrew Strathern trabaja en el Departamento de Antropología de la Universidad de Pittsburgh. Autor, junto a su mujer Pamela J. Stewart, de numerosos libros y artículos sobre sus investigaciones en Papúa Nueva Guinea y Escocia, entre sus obras conjuntas más recientes destacan: "Minorities and Memories: Survivals and Extinctions in Scotland and Western Europe" (2001), "Remaking the World: Myth, Mining, and Ritual Change among the Duna of Papua New Guinea" (2002) y "Violence: Theory and Ethnography" (2002).
